Clear orthodontic aligners  are transparent custom made trays used for aligning the teeth.Every set is worn for around 2 weeks and then switched to the next aligner in the series.

Retainers

After completing the orthodontic treatment you need to wear a retainer for the the new position of teeth and preventing relapses.Your dentist will just either a removable or fixed retainer to maintain the results of treatment.

Prior starting with orthodontic treatment your oral health should be good. Any  cavity treatment and tooth cleaning should be done first.Orthodontic treatment may involve extraction of few teeth or replacing any missing teeth during or post treatment.

Care during  and after ortho treatment:

• Do not chew on hard food  and  objects
• Avoid sticky and crunchy foods.
• Certain elastic bands may have to be removed before brushing and flossing.
• Maintain your oral health by regular brushing and flossing.
• Smaller head toothbrushes may be used  to clean your braces and teeth in gentle and circular motion.
• Place the brush at a 45-degree angle above and beneath the orthodontic wires to clean the braces.
• Brush each tooth individually by placing the brush at a 45-degree angle to the gum line. Use a circular motion and clean all tooth surfaces.
• Most importantly do not miss your scheduled othodontic appointment as even smaller improper  unmonitored forces can cause drastic tooth movement.
• Post treatment  professional teeth cleaning needs to be performed.
• Wear the removable retainer as instructed by the dentist .Do not loose it and maintain it properly when not in mouth.In case of loss or breakage report to your doctor immediately.
